Editor: VisualDisk is an extension to Microsoft (file) Explorer, offering information and possibilities that is not available in Microsoft Explorer. Besides using the shortcut, VisualDisk can also be started from the context menu of a folder or disk of Microsoft Explorer and start working immediately on that folder or disk.
Some features not available in Microsoft Explorer are:
Showing the distribution of space allocation in folder and sub-folders with graphical bar.
View the thumbnails of ALL pictures under a folder or the whole disk.
Listing all files including files from all sub-folders in one list. Using some filter combinations the list can be Shorten and irrelevant folder will not be shown.
Quickly doing repetitive file search operation in the above mentioned list without having to rescan the disk. Actually the result list changes while you type!
Showing changes that happen to a folder contents by comparing the current image with a saved image.
Showing contents of folder removable media without having to insert/access the media. For this, the disk needs to be scanned once and the result is saved as an image.
Copying (selected) files from many folders into one destination folder without overwriting. The same filename will be given a numbered suffix.
VisualDisk is also handy when you need to clean-up your disk. Disk cleanup needs information about Folder Size and its contents, about the first huge files that consume the space and a quick way to search the whole disk contents for a certain kind of files. Ever try to do a search using Windows Explorer? Explorer will scan the whole disk to do a search matching your search request. What if the result is not satisfying? (In the most case we need to do more than one search) You need to go through the whole scanning process again. The reason is most likely because the search facility is meant also for text search in the file contents.
