Edit By BS Editor: Soft191 Disk Free Space Wiper (DFSWiper) provides a fast way to securely erase free disk space. Data can be overwritten (1 to 10 times).

The program cleans the free disk space on hard drives, USB drives, RAM drives etc.

Any data which still resides in that free space, albeit marked 'free', can be properly and securely deleted by overwriting it. As you may know, simply deleting a file via Windows does not actually delete the content of the file. Instead, the space that file occupied on the disk is simply marked as being 'free', and may exist for a long time until Another File is allocated that space (or part of it).

Simply select the drive(s) you want to work on, the number of passes you want to perform (click the label next to it for a pop-up window guide) and click the "Start" button.

While the program can attempt to Detect USB drives being inserted/removed, you can use the "Refresh" button to manually refresh the drive list.

Note: This tool does not clean the end clusters of existing files which may contain data from other files. An entry for the deleted file may still be present in the meta-data and master fat table of an NTFS partition.

The program can reside in the system tray while disk wiping is occurring, simply click the "Close" icon on the program's window.
