Identity profiles
The mechanism of identity profiles has been developed in order to facilitate data classification. Each identity is divided into:
- Personal data
- Login data
- Other data

Personal data
Personal data are used to enter information on websites that request such data from the user. When using NetID and visiting a website that requests registration, the user is not requested to manually enter personal data. As these data have already been entered in the NetID program, upon confirmation, it will fill the registration form for the user.

Login data
The login data include our login names and passwords stored in the program.

Other data
This section is used for storing information that are not sent anywhere outside the program. We can enter any required information in this area. As all information is encrypted, only the legitimate user knowing the correct password will have access to the information.

Start-up and portability
The program is not automatically started on system start-up; therefore, it has to be run manually when needed. NetID is not automatically added in the WindowsR menu. This results from two assumptions. The first is security. Only the legitimate user knows where the program has been installed; it will be more difficult for unauthorised persons to find the software location. The other assumption is portability. The program has been designed as portable software; the user can store it in e.g. a USB medium and run it in another computer without the need for repeated installation.
