Likewise, they appear as plain Macintosh volumes when mounted on an Apple computer, with icons, long file names, "double-clickable" file icons and the like. They can implement the QuickTime autostart feature (only under MacOS 9) when it is not inhibited by the user. There is no autostart under mac OS X. It is even possible to install Macintosh applications (programs) on such media.

As other CD-ROM premastering software packages, MacImage manages a project file holding the list of files and folders that the user want to include in the ISO view and/or in the HFS view.
