After completing the calibration, place the first pictures in your scanner. When doing so, you do not have to pay particular attention to placing them squarely, as the program will take care of orienting them correctly.

Then click on the Preview button. Your pictures will then be scanned at the dpi resolution specified under Options. You can then monitor whether the pictures have been correctly recognized. You can tell if the pictures have been recognized correctly by the dashed Border (selection) around the image. If you click on the image, handles will appear on the edges and in the Middle of the lines.
